Knowledge of a wide range of traffic building techniques is what distinguishes an internet expert, or guru, from those of us who would love to be able to make our online business pay not just now and again, but sufficient to allow us to wave the boss goodbye without fear of having to crawl back, cap in hand for alms, a few months later.

You must not confuse traffic building with list building. That is a confusion that many people new to online marketing have, yet a bit of thought should be enough to enable you to tell the difference. List building is the compilation of an email list of people interested in your product or niche. In order to build up that list, each member of which you can regularly contact with new information and new offers, you must have an opt-in form on your website. OK, there are other places to put the form, but generally it is on a page in your website.

Before they see the form, therefore, they have to visit your website. For that you need traffic, ergo before you can build a list you must first have the traffic. Your list is hence a result of your traffic, not synonymous with it. To phrase it more simply, you need traffic to build a list, so list building is not the same as traffic building.

Forget the list until you have visitors. For visitors you have to attract people to your website and there are many ways in which you can achieve that. One is through writing articles on your subject and submitting them to article directories. Everybody who reads it will be shown a resource box that displays your URL, plus a bit about you and your website (written by you). They can then click through to your website: in fact, your URL can lead them to any page on your site you want them to visit, though for maximum impact it should be a page that is relevant to the topic of the article. The most successful articles are those with a title exactly the same as the title of the web page readers are directed to.

You can also build traffic through advertising. Ezine advertising is popular, where you pay for banner or text adverts on ezines, though keep in mind that banner ads have lost their impact lately, though are not the complete turn-offs that many claim them to be. Probably the most effective adverts for traffic are those provided by others in their emails, but you have to be in the right crowd to get these. They are generally referred to as joint ventures, and can be extremely effective if you are able to secure them.

For joint ventures you have to have something to offer to another in order to get what is basically free advertising to your website. That could be a good deal on your product, or a reciprocal advertising agreement from a non-competitive site. If you sell a novel way to lose weight by eating fresh farm eggs, and somebody has a site offering fresh farm eggs, then you could agree on a joint venture: they promote your ebook and you promote their eggs. The same with guitar lessons and guitar strings, and so on. As long as you are not competing, but share potential customers, you can agree on a joint venture.

Traffic is critical to your business, and any way you can use to attract it can be critical to the degree of your success. Take portal websites. These are sites that consist of lots of websites, each covering one aspect of your niche, in the same way for which you would normally use several pages in one website. The thing is, it has been proved that home pages generally get listed higher than internal pages, so why not have a website consisting only of home pages?

A portal site provides the portal (gateway) to every other website in your network. Since each is a different website, their home pages are liable to be listed higher on Google than any internal pages would. Hence, you get more exposure on the search engines. You could pay for PPC adverts and get fewer clicks, but with portal sites, you spend your money on more websites that give you exactly the results that you need.

Did you know that one of the best ways to advertise your online business effectively is to write articles? Getting started in the article writing area is difficult because a lot of us feel we do not know how to write. I am one of them especially because English is my second language and believe me, it is difficult.

Anyway, this is article number fourteen and it appears I am getting a little better because the more I write the more practice I get. The other thirteen have been published and are already delivering traffic and are sending a lot of one way back links. One way back links are a gold mine because search engines love them and the higher your website will rank.

If you are doing business online, you have to consider writing articles because you will be able to publish them all over the place; they will improve your traffic rankings. Don't know how to write? There is a quotation out there that goes like this, "If you can talk, you can write." You better think again because, I am sure you can write.

I put off article writing for a long time because I felt the same way. Now I feel motivated because I am seeing good results.
All you have to do to get going is to choose a topic associated with your website theme, do a search online to get a few ideas and start writing away. Don't copy the information and publish it as your own because you can get in trouble. The information you write must be original. It must be your own.

I elected to write this article because a lot of business owners don't want to write them not knowing they are missing a lot. I have a "Webmasters Resource Area" on one of my sites where some of the information I present is to show ways to increase search engine rankings. You see, the main purpose of each website owner must be to increase their website rankings as much as they can because the higher the ranking, the more targeted traffic they will get. And the more traffic a website gets, the more sales it will make.

When you have written your first article you need to submit it to article directories and blogs. The more places you submit it to, the more traffic and one way back links you will get .

Hello my friends out there in the article viewing world. I just wrote a review on Sales Xplosion strictly for my personal blog about 5 minutes ago. After I got done writing that, I felt like there was still more that I could say about this ‘hip’ new company.

And hey where would I be if I didn’t market my own posts?

What I am doing right now is article marketing, where I write an article and submit it with various types of software getting my blog lots of link love and ultimately getting it to the front page of Google for nearly any keyword that I want.

Over the months of me writing articles, blog posts, and reviews I sort of got into this habit of talking about different companies, and people for some reason thought I was a part of those companies and would discount what I would say. I can’t say that I blame them. If I read a review of a product from an affiliate of that product, I can’t rely solely on that one review to make my decision. That’s why, to set the record straight, I am telling you right now that I am currently not a member of Sales Xplosion. I’m just the dude that did some research and am telling you what I found.

I talk about this on my blog, but what I really like about Sales Xplosion is the product.

I don’t want you to think that I’m the type of person that would go out and jump on the product bandwagon because trust me if anyone’s that guy, it’s not me. I could care less about what product a company has, but for some reason Sales Xplosion’s caught my eye. And don’t worry I can share with you the reasons why I usually don’t care too much about a “hit new product”.

I’m really a facts and figures kind of guy. I look at the stats and that’s really where I make most of my decisions. I play the percentages.

And the stats show that only about 5 out of every 100 companies will stay “alive” longer than one year. So I looked at this stat and I had to ask myself a couple of questions. What would happen if every single person that joined my team only cared about the product, and then the opportunity crashed? What would I do? Well I would be screwed. I wouldn’t have a team at all. That’s really when I made the decision to make sure that people joined me because of me, and quite frankly that one product is not going to make me or break me.

So every person that joins me and my business joins because of me not some product (hopefully!).

But that’s really how it is in most opportunities anyways. People join people not companies.

However, the Sales Xplosion product is great just because it’s a product that is actually going to help people build their business.

Most companies that you see these days are trying to sell tooth paste or vitamin juice, but Sales Xplosion went in a little bit of a different direction. They decided that instead of handing out another product that thousands of other companies are giving out, they would give out something that is going to help people.

There have been a couple of different biz opps to go this route in the last couple of months such as ILearningGlobal (another fantastic opportunity), and I’ve gotta’ say I really like where they are headed. Sales Xplosion is not the only company that has decided to do this in the past year or so. ILearningGlobal is another one. They are another great company with some real leaders in the industry. Selling informational products and products that people do need is a great new thing, and more and more people are starting to become a part of.

I can’t really get into all of the products and what they do, since this article is going out to article directories and they wouldn’t accept it, if I started going into all of that.

I’m sorry!

I guess you are just going to have to trust me when I say that the product is flat out great.

However, the product is NOT everything.

The most important part about Sales Xplosion or any other network marketing opportunity for that matter is marketing. Some people get it a little backwards.

They start thinking of it as network producting, when quite frankly that just doesn’t exist. Its called network MARKETING for a reason, which is you HAVE to know how to market, and market well.
