What Is Advance Search Engine Optimization? This is a question I have ask many times and base on all the research I’ve done here is what I think it is. It’s an applied technique that get’s your site ahead of your competitor. Yes that’s what I think it is.
Over the past few months I’ve been researching Black Hat SEO and honestly it’s amazing some of the techniques that are being used, to me a lot of it would be considered Advance Search Engine Optimization, the problem I have with Black Hat is when it deliberately affects another site, by applying malicious scripts or using other known techniques to knock off a competitor.
For example, hidden text do you remember when it first became frowned upon? Well I am certain that there were lots of experts applying the technique because it worked and it did not affect another site in my opinion, now critiques will say it did because it got a high ranking in an unethical way and here is my answer to that, do you know what’s currently being applied?. It’s like catching athletes that use enhanced drugs, the method is being perfected until it’s found out.
Let me first say that I am not implying that anyone should go out and start looking or using Black Hat Techniques, the discussion here is about Advance Search Engine Optimization and most techniques become Black Hat because they’re being abused.
Here is another one, mass Blog comments, do you remember when it did the impossible and got you to the top of the engines in no time at all, I know most experts used it until it became the most hated technique of all, why? It was being abused and used in ways that got die hard bloggers really upset. Just imagine having a blog about family values and here comes some idiot with a comment about porn.
Advance search engine optimization techniques can be applied both on page and off page and to truly grasp on page techniques all you need to do is keep researching and monitoring those pages that rank at the top of their niche, I enjoy looking at source codes for those sites in the search engine optimization or internet marketing categories, there you can see a few techniques being used, for example I change from "b" to "strong" and that was only because I saw it used on a top website quite some time back.
You learn by watching over the shoulders of those in the know, Gurus, Experts, News, Blogs, RSS Feeds I subscribe to them all so that I understand what’s happening, but believe me 90% is all trash, reused stuff repeated over and over again, those people who used advance techniques would charge an arm or a leg for it, or simply keep it to themselves, because if you then start sharing you’re technique chances are it can become Black Hat, because everyone starts to misuse it.
I recently read a blog where a gentleman found a way to get a site index within hours without having links to it, he then placed it on his site so that members can use it with a note saying that it should only be used once a day, well you know where I’m going with this, it was taken down within days.
Ok, so let’s get back to advance SEO, I remember as a boy my mom use to say, there is more than one way to skin a cat and I think you can use this in SEO terms. Let’s start with backlinks, everyone says including the experts that you need backlinks to rank high in the search engines, I don’t disagree you do need links to sustain your ranking, why do I say this? Well I have seen sites that rank in competitive niches with minimal links and I have seen sites that have all the links possible and yet don’t command the respect they deserve. Why do you think this is? There is more than one way to skin a cat!!
Good onsite optimization can make an incredible difference in your rankings because there are so many techniques that can be applied from CSS, Htaccess, Link Scripts, Hearder variables, the list goes on and on but you see like me I have had to research all of these various elements and choose the ones I think will impact my sites the most because I am no expert.
I once read a blog where the owner was making a claim that you should use “search-engine-marketing” instead of “search_engine_marketing” when creating links, so I went unto his site to see what else this guy is suggesting, first I looked into his source code to see if there were any unusual techniques and to my astonishment this guy had no clue as to what he was talking about and to make it worst did not even rank for his keywords in the first three pages.
More than one way to skin a cat, very popular blog, good traffic, loads of subscribers, really that’s all you need. What I want to say is that onsite optimization should be given priority in your optimization because that’s where it all starts, unless you can get all the back links you need to get you there then dedicated on site optimization is the most important thing you can do.
I currently use software to help me with my optimization because it catches the little mistakes or give suggestions on what I should do but honestly I always have to over ride most of the suggestions. As an example, I use to use a program that analyzed the top ten sites in a niche and then suggested that I try and get somewhere in the middle, but it completely missed the point because I did not want to follow them, I wanted to be unique without spamming.
How many words should you use in your Title, Keyword meta, Description meta, Alt Tags, Link and Image Titles is all nonsense, remember most software programs are written to follow guidelines, they don’t allow you to experiment and here is an example, if you type in three words to search let’s say “search engine optimization”, the results would have about 25 words per link or two lines and then Google adds … if its longer, but if your type in “free updated tutorial on search engine optimization for beginners” the results would give links with over 30 words or three lines or more, this means that my description can have twice the amount suggested. But remember it must look natural, not spammy and the same goes for every other element on your site.
The idea is to experiment by always looking for new ideas, keep on tweeking your site until you find what works best and if you find a good program or software that will make it easier to manage then by all means use it. Don’t follow the SEO masses, this is my slogan and let me explain why, lately there has been a surge in article spinning with lots of sites providing the service free or you can pay for it, if you remember what we discussed earlier, you will realize that this sort of off page optimization is becoming useless, first it’s creating useless duplicate content and second because so many people are doing this it’s losing its appeal, who knows it might soon be called Black Hat.
Good Quality Content Does not need to be duplicated.
If you really want to build good backlinks in my opinion you should look at your competitor’s links, look at the top ten in your niche and see if you can acquire some of their backlinks, chances are Google shows them as good links. Another method is to comment on blogs, there are lots of genuine blogs out there with good moderators, meaning that if your comment appears to be spam it will be removed immediately. So if you get a link it will be a good one.
When I comment on blogs I sometimes try to get a content phrase on the topic and then do a search, if I find a good site with the same subject I’ll copy and paste a section that makes sense in the comment box, the text to my site will then say “My Name @ Radio 1” instead of “radio 1 the best Station in the world” you get my drift.
Thank you for reading this far and to end my little discussion here, ask yourself again “What Is Advance Search Engine Optimization” and remember what I said, Black Hat, Blue, Green, Red, White does not mean a thing, all you need is to rank higher than your nearest rival in a non conspicuous way.
