Twitter to charge for account verification

Twitter has said that it might start charging companies to verify their accounts. This will form part of twitters plans to tackle the problem of cyber-squatters that set up fake accounts. This is a problem that affects businesses when these fake accounts use brand names to post damaging messages. Tony La Russa of the St Louise Cardinals has already filed a lawsuit in California as a result of a fake twitter account. Twitter is now going to have a trial of “Verified Accounts “for big brand names such as Dell, Starbucks etc. These official accounts will display a Tick symbol to show that they have been verified.
