Is it just the younger generation using Social Media?

Younger people are growing up with Social Media and using it to their advantage. Most young people use Facebook  and maybe Twitter but it is not exclusively for the younger generation. With the older population increasing due to scientific and medical advances there are more and more of them engaging in the on-line community. Many of the older generation are quiet tech minded and now senior related social media sites are increasing. Seniors have to face a lot of challenges such as financial planning for retirement, health care and housing needs. They are increasingly using the internet to help them face these challenges. Therefore social community websites are on the increase.

Marketers should take a long hard look at this growing market and at the emerging sites.
Saga one of the most well known companies for the over 50’s has launched a social networking site called SAGA ZONE.

The free site includes forums on subjects including gardening, health, money and relationship advice as well as blogs by writers who share their lives and interests online. Linda Franklin writes a dating blog, Marianne keeps a light-hearted carer's diary called 'Keeping Mum', keen gardener Terry Walton writes 'Allotment Sagas' and Lucy Irvine’s 'Balkan Castaway' describes her new life in Bulgaria.

In the USA they also have a site that has launched called Eons.com which caters to the over 50’s or how about a video and audio site for the older generation called Growing Bolder . This is an excellent site but is not just for over 50’s but for people  in general.
Bolder features, videos, “vlogs”, audio podcasts, photo galleries, forums and blogs.

So you see Social Media can be available to all the family and for all ages
